Who We're Looking For

We are seeking experienced Spanish legal interpreters with the following:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent). A degree in English is preferred.

  • Experience: +5 years of legal interpretation.

  • Language: Native Spanish speaker with advanced English (C1 or higher).

  • Consecutive Interpretation: Proficiency in consecutive interpretation techniques.

Technical Requirements:

  • USB headset, 1080p camera, 8 GB RAM, Intel Core i3 or equivalent, Windows 10.

  • Wired internet: 20 Mbps download (130 ms max latency) and 10 Mbps upload.

 

What You’ll do

As a VRI/OPI Legal Interpreter at Multilingual, you will:

Accurate Interpretation: Provide real-time, precise interpretation between legal professionals and clients, ensuring no loss of meaning or critical legal information.

Legal Terminology Proficiency: Maintain a strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and legal systems for clear and accurate communication.

Confidentiality: Adhere to confidentiality requirements and safeguard all sensitive information related to legal proceedings and client interactions.

Cultural Sensitivity: Facilitate communication while respecting cultural differences, ensuring both parties feel understood and respected.

Clear Communication: Accurately convey tone, intent, and emotion while remaining neutral and professional, ensuring clear comprehension by all parties.

Handle Challenging Situations: Manage sensitive or high-stakes conversations calmly and professionally, adapting quickly to various legal contexts.

Ethical Decision Making: Stay within your scope of practice, ensuring clarity of roles without offering legal advice or opinions.

Technical Proficiency: Operate video and audio platforms effectively, troubleshooting issues to ensure a smooth remote interpreting experience.

Maintain Professional Boundaries: Uphold professionalism with clients and legal staff, avoiding personal involvement and remaining impartial.

Ongoing Learning: Keep up to date with legal terminology, court procedures, and industry standards through continued education.
