Who We're Looking For

We are seeking Korean medical interpreters with the following:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum one year of medical interpretation. (preferred)

  • Language: Native Korean speaker with advanced English (C1 or higher).

  • Skills: Strong communication, customer-oriented, detail-oriented, and a problem solver.

  • Work Environment: HIPAA-compliant workspace, free from distractions.

Technical Requirements:

  • USB headset, 1080p camera, 8 GB RAM, Intel Core i3 or equivalent, Windows 10.

  • Wired internet: 20 Mbps download (130 ms max latency) and 10 Mbps upload.

What You’ll Do

As a VRI/OPI Medical Interpreter at Multilingual, you will:

  • Accurate Interpretation: Provide real-time, precise interpretation between healthcare providers and patients, ensuring no loss of meaning or critical medical information.

  • Medical Terminology Proficiency: Maintain a strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare procedures for clear communication.

  • Confidentiality: Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and ensure strict confidentiality of all patient information.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Facilitate communication while respecting cultural differences, ensuring both parties feel understood.

  • Clear Communication: Accurately convey tone, intent, and emotion while remaining neutral and professional.

  • Handle Challenging Situations: Manage difficult conversations calmly and empathetically, adapting quickly to various medical scenarios.

  • Ethical Decision Making: Stay within your scope of practice, ensuring clarity of roles without offering advice or opinions.

  • Technical Proficiency: Operate video and audio platforms effectively, troubleshooting issues to ensure a smooth remote interpreting experience.

  • Maintain Professional Boundaries: Uphold professionalism with patients and medical staff, avoiding personal involvement.

  • Ongoing Learning: Keep up to date with medical terminology, healthcare procedures, and industry standards through continued education.
